Gather new ideas and connect with other teachers and creative partners from across the East Midlands.

This network meeting will focus on sharing learning from our SEND 50 Year Celebratory Award projects, which supported 8 SEND schools from across the region during 2021

Schools involved in this project will give insights into their work and share key outcomes and learning.

We will also build in an opportunity to explore and discuss how arts and creativity can support young people’s wellbeing  – sharing ideas, top tips and challenges.

Some information on the SEND 50 year Celebratory Awards:

In April 2021 we celebrated 50 years since children and young people with severe and profound learning disabilities came within the education system in England and Wales (the Act of 1970 became active in 1971). As part of this celebration David S Stewart, a Trustee of Mighty Creatives, supported a number of school grants to support projects across 8 schools in the region – Ash Field Academy, Ellesmere College, Foxwood Academy, Nether Hall School, Oak Field School, Priory School, Red Kite Special Academy, and Sandon School.

These projects gave schools the opportunity to work with a wide range of artists and arts organisations to create new creative educational opportunities for their children and young people. Many of these projects focussed on supporting the mental health and wellbeing of students and staff and celebrated students returning to school after the lockdowns.

We hope you are able to join us! – this network will be an opportunity to link up with like-minded schools and partners that are committed to the arts, creating a stronger voice for the importance and impact of cultural education.
