Charity of the year

The Mighty Creatives chosen as Charity of the Year by the East Midlands Chamber Charity Fund 2020

The Mighty Creatives are delighted to announce that they have been selected as Charity of the Year by the East Midlands Chamber Charity Fund for 2020, providing vital funds to transform the lives of young people through arts, culture and creativity.

19th December 2019, Leicester, UK – The Mighty Creatives, the regional charity for children and young people’s creativity in the East Midlands, has been named as one of three charities chosen to benefit from the East Midlands Chamber Charity Fund in 2020. The three charities are selected annually by the Chamber’s president at an annual Christmas lunch, which took place this year on Friday 6th December at Athena in Leicester and was sponsored by De Montfort University, Creative62, RSM and Soar Valley Press.

The Mighty Creatives’ vision is to fight for a world where all children and young people are given the opportunity to harness the power of arts, culture and creativity. The charity supports the most excluded children and young people in the region to improve their social lives, wellbeing and economic prospects. The East Midlands Chamber Charity of the Year status will help to raise awareness of the charity’s cause, while providing crucial funds to support its mission critical delivery.

Working across the Midlands, The Mighty Creatives serve all nine East Midlands local authority areas and targeted areas in the West Midlands. The charity works in partnership with young people, key funders and sector partners to transform the lives of young people through cultural education. It offers a range of services and programmes, informed and developed in response to the voices of children and young people. This is delivered in the form of workshops, training, coaching, mentoring, festivals and event services in the most deprived areas of the region.

Nick Owen, CEO at The Mighty Creatives, comments:

Here at The Mighty Creatives, we are delighted to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by the East Midlands Chamber Charity Fund for 2020. This recognition will help us to fight child poverty by championing, developing and delivering services which make an invaluable difference to the educational, cultural and social lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people in the region.

The Mighty Creatives will be invited to the East Midland’s Chamber Christmas Lunch next year along with the other selected charities, Chesterfield Canal Trust and the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.
