Ewan's story
"I love my veg patch. I like seeing the progress each week. When you are growing things, you can really see the difference you are making."
discover more >Hello and welcome! My name is Stella, and I am a member of TMC’s Youth Board and have been since about April. I am so excited to officially launch the beginning of this era of the youth voice marketing and communications project!
You may remember Hannah’s takeover, with her work on Autism Acceptance Month and the daily journal prompts on Instagram. I’m here to follow on from her social media youth voice work!
So, a little introduction to me. I joined The Mighty Creative’s Youth Board in April. And before that, I was and still am a trustee at Creatives Now, which is a youth-led arts collective based in Bolton. You can find out more about them here.
I joined Creatives Now when I was 13, sitting awestruck at each session watching so many other talented young people painting realistic murals, sculpting with clay and creating origami cranes in under a minute (which, after all these years, I still can’t do!).
Like many people, I had thought that the Arts meant painting realistic portraits or drawing realistic fruit bowls, which it absolutely isn’t.
Throughout my time at Creatives Now, I learnt about all the other practices in the Arts, I’ve dabbled in script writing, performing, film-making, both in front and behind the camera, I’ve helped paint massive murals, and I’ve tried manual printing. Basically, I learnt that the Arts practically include everything under the sun and beyond.
So from now until the beginning of September, I will be doing a takeover of The Mighty Creative’s social media! Keep an eye out for TikTok and Instagram posts, reels, stories and blogs on the website.
I will be posting a lot of content around how the Arts are so important, including making some weekly art prompts, starting next Monday, which you can find on Instagram as stories, feel free to tag TMC if you try any out!
You’ll be able to find posts on Instagram and TikTok about different arts practices, especially some untraditional ones you may not have heard of.
I will also be writing a mini blog series called ‘What would the world look like without…’, which will be posted every Friday, and each blog will focus on what the world might look like without one of the Arts practices like theatre and drama.
Each time we post a blog, you will be able to find an accompanying reel on Instagram and TikTok as an explanation and a more visual method of the same content.
A couple of years ago, my journey in the Arts took a turn into how they can be used for social justice. I started getting involved in community projects and championing for youth empowerment, I started my own social media journey; you can find me on Instagram as _local.gal_, and I set up a blog, where I mostly write about my journey in the Arts, which you can find here.
I want to help other people to find their voice and encourage them to use it in a positive way for what’s important to them.
When I found out about TMC, I was so excited to join the Youth Board, among other like-minded people and become a part of such an amazing charity that works for social justice.
So that’s how I got here today, part of this amazing youth voice project, and I hope that if anything, you’ll learn some new Arts practices or appreciate their importance in our world! And with that, I hope you enjoy it too!
