Join us and Educational Psychologists for a workshop on Emotion Coaching Training with an Introduction to Attachment, Trauma and Resilience. The content of this workshop will complement sessions delivered by Jo Stockdale, and will provide more practical methods to adapt into your practice and daily delivery.

These sessions are part of our free support package for Creative Mentors, completely designed to be bespoke for the Creative Mentoring service.

What can I expect from the session?

This session will develop your understanding of attachment theory and the impact that trauma can have on a child, issues that are more common in care experienced children and young people.

This session will help Creative Mentors understand attachment and trauma theory, providing a good framework for understanding the needs of the children and young people we work with as well as some helpful strategies, including Emotion Coaching, to use to play a more positive and active role with your mentees.

Emotion Coaching is a practical, evidence-based, relational approach grounded in neuroscience, which develops children’s self-regulation skills. Regulating emotions through healthy relationships promotes healthy brain development while dealing with behaviour in the moment. Emotion Coaching provides a clear model for connecting, feeling, thinking and behaving.

As part of this workshop, you will:

• Develop a deeper understanding of Attachment and Trauma Theory.
• Learn some helpful strategies to help develop the resilience of your mentees.
• Become familiar with Emotion Coaching, its key principles, theory and evidence base.
• Become familiar with situations where Emotion Coaching would be effective.
• Be able to use the 4 step Emotion Coaching process in your practice.
