Supporting Yourself: Cultivating Your Own ‘Steadiness’, Readiness and Resilience

The nature of Creative Mentoring is challenging; our best laid plans can go to pot because of circumstances beyond our control, meaning the practice is a balancing act of good preparation, well managed expectations – yours, your mentee and possibly other adults around them – and your capacity to quickly and effectively respond to changing and unexpected circumstances.

With these realities in mind, this session creates space for new and experienced creative mentors to collectively explore the practicalities around planning and preparation that lie beyond the scope of your creative workshop activity.
It will support you to more confidently anticipate what’s expected from you as a mentor, and what to contemplate and consider that may not be relevant in other creative practitioner roles, e.g. protecting professional boundaries and managing expectations.

We’ll also reflect on the possibilities of the unplanned and unanticipated – situations that can occur at any point in a Creative Mentor’s journey – strengthening your capacity ‘emotional steadiness, readiness and resilience’, so you’re equipped to respond to the unforeseen and unexpected with confidence.

Please note this training is optional for creative mentors.
