In response to the Creative Mentoring Support Survey, we have worked hard to craft a training programme that responds to the needs of the Creative Mentors. We hope you find the sessions inspiring.

Context of the Session

As Creative Mentors, we often find out lots about our Creative Mentee prior to working with them, to help prepare us for their needs, interests, behaviours and navigating their professionals. We often find out about their previous traumas, their attachments and relationships to be able to pitch our Creative Mentoring work in the context of our lives.

But what about our own self-awareness? How aware are we of our own experiences and the ways these might impact our work prior to working with a child/young person?

This session, rather than unpicking our own experiences, will focus on the term ‘self-awareness’ and what that actually means for us. We will explore topics of attachment, our own emotional regulation and our own boundaries – all important areas to consider when working with our Creative Mentees.

We hope by the end of the session

You will have a clearer understanding on how best to self-reflect as part of your Creative Mentoring journey, to be aware of what we are bringing to the relationship and how we need to adapt our practices with this in mind.
