A day of creative printmaking for pupils a Lincolnshire primary school to help build their emotional confidence through art.

Guided by a lead artist and youth board member from cultural education charity The Mighty Creatives, ninety year 4 and 5 children from Bourne Westfield Primary School took part in a special workshop where they were encouraged to think about patterns, logos and symbols that represented themselves and their feelings.

The children used roller biros and printing ink to design the striking artwork onto foam sheets, paper plates and bed covers as part of the special workshop, and their colourful prints will be showcased at The Mighty Creatives Without Walls event this Autumn – a week-long immersive and interactive exhibition based on five social topics that matter to children and young people in the East Midlands.

“The art workshop by The Mighty Creatives was a great way for the children to learn how to build confidence, and it was a simple but highly effective and fun introduction to printing too. The children are very proud of the results.”

“We had an exciting and collaborative workshop at Bourne Westfield Primary School and were thrilled with how well the children engaged with the topic. They came up with some amazing creative ideas.

“The session is part of a series of classes we are running at schools across the region in preparation for our five-day Without Walls exhibition in September.

“The printmaking the children created will form part of workshops, provocations and discussions at the event, and will give young people a chance to change and shape the future through art, culture and creative voice.”

Without Walls will take place from Monday 19th September to Friday 23rd September at Leicester’s brand-new community space Beta-X. The five themes will include Equality & Diversity, Arts in Education, Environmental Responsibility, Mental Health, and Employment & Training Pathways.
