Emerge Creative is a Creative Skills programme service currently supporting young people 15-19 from the Bassetlaw and surrounding area of North Nottinghamshire. The project develops creative and social skills through a programme of creative and skills workshop activities.

The programme supports emerging young creatives and creators, improving access to skills, training and the support required to develop skills and explore pathways into work and further education.

Young people from disadvantaged communities do not get fair access to high quality information, advice and experiences about careers, and do not have opportunities to develop the creative skills and competencies employers want.

Through this project we:

  • improve awareness of cultural industries for young people;
  • increase employment opportunities for young people, focusing on work ready skills and entrepreneurship competencies.

The project framework provide young people with inspiring opportunities to develop production skills in visual arts and crafts (ceramics and photography) to create products to sell in popup retail outlets across the district and or produce an exhibition to raise awareness of social issues important to young people.

This interactive workshop programme runs across the year, with up to 50 young people accessing over 30 hours of training and industry-based studio practice skills.
