The Mighty Creatives, as part of our Youth Voice work, are partnering with Highfields Centre and Voluntary Action Leicester to work with up to 45 young people aged 16-25, supporting them with their next steps after education through creativity.
The Mighty Creatives will be working with three artists of different disciplines to work with groups of young people and support them through their Bronze Arts Award (there may be some young people who want to work towards Silver, but we anticipate the majority of the awards to be Bronze).
The project is part of a partnership project, titled Creative Futures, developed alongside Voluntary Action Leicester and Highfields Centre. The overall projects aim is to develop young people’s skills, confidence and employability. Alongside the art-based sessions, Voluntary Action Leicester will be providing CV writing workshops, separately to the art-based sessions.
We’re looking to recruit three artists to deliver this work. We’re seeking applications from artists who have experience of delivering Bronze Arts Award (as an advisor or otherwise) to work with a group of up to 15 young people at any given time of the project. We have budget to train the chosen artist to become an Arts Award Advisor if this is required.
We anticipate the 15 young people to remain the same over the course of the project to allow for building of rapport and consistency, but there may be some slight changes to the group.
The final aim of this project is for every young person to be awarded at least a Bronze Arts Award qualification, and to showcase their artwork/creations at a final endpoint celebration or showcase. We hope that this project will support a group of young leaders within the Highfields community to support future work for Highfields Centre.
Sessions will run three times a week (for 2 hours per session) to allow for accessibility to those young people who may or may not be in education, employment or training. Artists may get young people attend one of the sessions a week, or across multiple sessions a week.
