An Introduction to the ‘Vulnerable Brain’

Every thought, action, decision, behaviour and belief comes from the brain, so why don’t we understand more about it?

But many of the associated problems these cause young people-and those who and live and work with them-are simply a symptom of what is happening inside their heads, not the root cause of the problem itself.

The experiences a child has, and the environment in which s/he grows up has an enormous impact on brain development, and this two-hour workshop which introduces the ‘vulnerable brain’ will give you understanding and insights into:

  • The impact of early experiences, even before what the child may remember,
  • The building blocks to healthy brain development that may have been missed from child’s life,
  • What this means in terms of the child’s capacity to learn well, do well and be well.

These insights into the workings of the ‘vulnerable brain’ will support every aspect of Creative Mentoring, from understanding how your child or young person’s past experienced may have impacted their engagement, behaviours and ability to form healthy relationships to hoe to best facilitate them to progress.

If you have any questions about the session, please get in contact with our Youth Programme Manager Emily York by emailing Emily.york@themightycreatives.com.
