TMC’S Mighty Hub – Mr Holly’s New Top 10!

The Mighty Hub now has over 100 entries listing an amazing array of creative events and activities from artists, organisations, companies and venues across the East Midlands and the UK that children, families, teachers, schools and young people can access, enjoy and get inspired by!

We asked Mr Holly, an East Midlands Creative Producer who helped us pull the Hub together, to give us his current Top Ten favourite Hub entries….

Charnwood Arts – Podjam

Initially designed as an activity for the third lockdown in January 2021, Podjam is a simple but brilliant creative concept that allows emerging musicians and artists to take a simple ambient backing track and add almost anything on top, including words and sounds, to make it their own and then upload it and share it.

Curve Classroom

A brilliant resource of short films made by artists connected to Curve with topics that include English language and literature, analytical thinking, music, character work and choreography workshops, as well as puppetry, disability awareness and LGBTQ+ history and loads more.

Zest Theatre

A very successful theatre company based in Lincoln, Zest have become experts in understanding and engaging young minds and amplifying their voices. Their recent hugely inspiring #refresh project has seen young peoples’ thoughts and ideas emblazoned across banners, billboards and shopfronts.

Kids in Museums

This is a brilliant organisation dedicated to making the experience that children, young people and families receive in museums, heritage sites and cultural organisations across the UK as welcoming as possible. Check out their manifesto!

Little Inventors

Whether you are a teacher wanting something fun and rewarding to inspire your students, or a parent looking for a creative activity for a rainy day, Little Inventors is packed full of brilliant joyful ideas to help young minds create marvellous, ingenious and bonkers invention ideas.

Mentally Healthy Schools

If you haven’t come across MHS yet it‘s well worth having a look at their website and online resources. A key issue for so many people now (teachers, pupils and parents alike) and only likely to become even more so, you’ll find all kinds of useful resources and ideas.

Mr Shay

Mr Shay is a Leicester-based rapper, poet, producer and beatboxer who regularly works with schools and community groups across our region and is also super lovely and super cool. Check out his free online sessions for children to learn the basics of beatboxing.

Punchdrunk

The extraordinary arts company Punchdrunk has created some truly amazing productions and events and during the pandemic made this beautiful imaginative adventure where children are invited to welcome a magical creature into their homes, encouraging them to experience the outdoors in a new way.

Soul City Arts

Mohammed Ali is an inspirational Islamic street artist who is passionate about engaging young minds and recorded this YouTube tutorial for primary school children about making art to change the world…  well worth 40 minutes of your time.

Highly Sprung

One of the UK’s leading physical theatre companies, Coventry-based Highly Sprung delivers in-school physical performance workshops, special projects and residencies to schools across the UK, and in 2021 launched ‘Ready, Box Set, Go!’, a digital resource for primary and secondary schools with a series of engaging, dynamic packages.
